Rescuezilla 1.0.6 backup distribution release

A new distribution release has been published Little Rescue 1.0.6, designed for backup, system recovery after failures and diagnostics of various hardware problems. The distribution is built on the Ubuntu package base and continues the development of the Redo Backup & Rescue project, the development of which was discontinued in 2012. Rescuezilla supports backup and recovery of accidentally deleted files on Linux, macOS and Windows partitions. It automatically searches for and mounts network partitions that can be used to host backups. The GUI is based on the LXDE shell. For loading offered live builds for 32-bit and 64-bit x86 systems (670MB).

The new version adds a separate build for 64-bit systems, which is updated to Ubuntu 20.04 (32-bit builds remain on Ubuntu 18.04). Added the ability to boot on EFI-only systems (including Secure Boot). Bootloader changed from ISOLINUX to GRUB. Improved logging of completed operations. Firefox is used as a web browser instead of Chromium (to exclude bindings to snap). Replaced leafpad text editor with mousepad.
