MX Linux distribution release 21.2

The release of the lightweight MX Linux 21.2 distribution, created as a result of the joint work of the communities formed around the antiX and MEPIS projects, is presented. The release is based on the Debian package base with improvements from the antiX project and packages from its own repository. The distribution uses the sysVinit initialization system and its own tools for configuring and deploying the system. Available for download are 32-bit and 64-bit builds (1.8 GB, x86_64, i386) with the Xfce desktop, as well as 64-bit builds (2.4 GB) with the KDE desktop, and minimal builds (1.4 GB) with the fluxbox window manager.

In the new release:

  • Synchronized with the Debian 11.4 package base. Updated app versions.
  • Advanced Hardware Support (AHS) builds use the Linux 5.18 kernel (regular builds use the 5.10 kernel).
  • Added mx-cleanup utility to clean old kernel versions.
  • Improved installer performance.
  • Added settings to the mx-tweak utility to disable bluetooth adapters and move buttons from the top of the Xfce and GTK dialogs to the bottom.
  • For fluxbox, a new utility mxfb-look has been proposed that allows you to save and load skins.
  • Utilities for UEFI management have been added to the mx-boot-options package.
  • The mx-snapshot utility has an automatic shutdown feature.
  • Added a graphical interface for the quick-system-info utility, which allows you to generate a system report to simplify the analysis of problems in the forums.
