OpenWrt 24.10.4 distribution release

OpenWrt 24.10.4, a distribution designed for network devices such as routers, switches, and access points, has been released. OpenWrt supports 2815 devices and offers a build system that simplifies cross-compilation and the creation of custom builds. These builds allow users to create ready-made firmware with a desired set of pre-installed packages, optimized for specific tasks. Builds have been published for 39 target platforms.

Main changes in OpenWrt 24.10.4:

  • The ramips platform has added support for Qding QC202 and Zbtlink ZBT-WG108 devices.
  • The ath79 platform for TP-Link Archer C59 v1 and TP-Link Archer C60 v1 devices has resolved issues with 5 GHz Wi-Fi.
  • The ipq40xx platform for Linksys WHW01 devices has improved MAC address and LED indicator configuration.
  • The Mediatek platform has added support for new variants of GL.iNet GL-MT2500/GL-MT2500A devices.
  • Flash issues on Aerohive BR200-WP devices have been resolved in the mpc85xx platform.
  • The qualcommax platform has improved the stability of updates for Linksys MX4200/MX4300/MX5300/MX8500 routers.
  • The ramips platform has resolved issues with MAC addresses and PIN settings on Hongdian H7920 devices.
  • Rockchip platform resolves PCIe issues.
  • The mac80211/ath10k wireless stack has improved handling of "failed to flush transmit queue" errors. The mac80211 subsystem state has been synchronized with kernel 6.12.52.
  • The kernel package has been updated to version 6.6.110 (was 6.6.104).
  • Updated odhcpd 2025-10-02, ubus 2025-10-17, mbedtls 3.6.5 and openssl 3.0.18.
  • Fixed vulnerabilities CVE-2025-62525 (local privilege escalation via ltq-ptm) and CVE-2025-62526 (buffer overflow in ubusd).
