Release of the OSGeo-Live 14.0 distribution kit with a selection of geographic information systems

The release of the OSGeo-Live 14.0 distribution kit is presented, developed by the non-profit organization OSGeo in order to provide the ability to quickly get acquainted with various open geographic information systems, without the need to install them. The distribution is built on the Lubuntu package base. Boot image size - 4.4 GB (amd64, as well as an image for virtualization systems VirtualBox, VMWare, KVM, etc.).

It includes about 50 open applications for geomodelling, spatial data management, satellite imagery processing, mapping, spatial modeling and visualization. Each application has a short, step-by-step guide to get you started. The set also includes free maps and databases of geographical objects. The graphical environment is based on the LXQt shell.

In the new release:

  • Updated to Lubuntu 20.04.1 package base. Updated versions of most applications.
  • Added new applications: pygeoapi, Re3gistry and GeoStyler.
  • Added additional Python modules Fiona, rasterio, cartopy, pandas, geopandas, mappyfile and Jupyter.
  • Additional applications have been added to the virtual machine image that did not fit in the iso image.
