Redcore Linux 2102 Distribution Release

The release of Redcore Linux 2102 is available, which attempts to combine the functionality of Gentoo with the convenience of ordinary users. The distribution provides a simple installer that allows you to quickly deploy a working system without requiring rebuilding components from source. Users are provided with a repository with ready-made binary packages, maintained using a continuous update cycle (rolling model). Package management uses its own sisyphus package manager. For installation, an iso image with a KDE desktop is offered, 3.9 GB in size (x86_64).

  • Synchronized with the Gentoo testing tree as of October 1st.
  • Packages with the Linux kernel 5.14.10 (by default), 5.10.71 and 5.4.151 are offered for installation.
  • Updated versions of about 1300 packages.

  • The Xwayland DDX component, which is used to run X11 applications in environments based on the Wayland protocol, has been moved into a separate package.
  • Chromium is used as the default browser (previously Firefox was supplied, and Mailspring was used as an email client (instead of Thunderbird).
  • Improved support for NVIDIA proprietary drivers, with nvidia-prime support for PRIME technology for offloading rendering operations to other GPUs (PRIME Display Offload).
  • Improved stability when loading in live mode.
