Simply Linux 10.2 distribution release

The Basalt SPO company has published the Simply Linux 10.2 distribution kit, built on the 10th ALT platform. The distribution is an easy-to-use and low-resource system with a classic desktop based on Xfce, which provides complete Russification of the interface and most applications. The product is distributed under a license agreement that does not transfer the right to distribute the distribution kit, but allows individuals and legal entities to use the system without restrictions. The distribution comes in builds for x86_64, i586, Aarch64, Armh (armv7a), RISC-V and e2kv4/e2k architectures.

Major changes in Simply Linux 10.2:

  • Xfce user environment has been updated to version 4.18.
  • Updated Linux kernel versions: 5.10.198 and 6.1.57 (for aarch64 - 5.10.198 and 6.1.0).
  • System components updated: Systemd 249.16, NetworkManager 1.40.18.
  • New versions of applications have been added: office suite LibreOffice 7.5.7.1, browsers Chromium 117 and Firefox 102.12.0 (supplied in assemblies for i586 systems), layer for running Windows programs Wine 8.14.1, vector graphics editor Inkscape 1.2.2, email client Thunderbird 102.11, Audacious 4.3 music player, Pidgin 2.14.12 messaging program, VLC 3.0.18 video player.
  • The installer provides installation of the necessary NVIDIA drivers.
  • Dictionaries for Kazakh and Ukrainian languages ​​have been added to the Hunspell spell checking package.
  • Added the ability to install on partitions with Btrfs file system. By default, the Ext4 file system continues to be used.
  • Added on-screen keyboard Onboard.
  • The design of the Alterator installer has been changed.
  • The desktop wallpaper collection has been updated.
  • The design of the menu has been improved, duplicates have been cleared, the size of icons has been increased and only pop-up application descriptions have been retained.
