Release of the Tails 4.20 distribution

The release of a specialized distribution kit Tails 4.20 (The Amnesic Incognito Live System), based on the Debian package base and designed to provide anonymous access to the network, has been published. Anonymous exit to Tails is provided by the Tor system. All connections, except traffic through the Tor network, are blocked by default by the packet filter. Encryption is used to store user data in the save user data between runs mode. An iso image has been prepared for download, capable of working in Live mode, with a size of 1 GB.

The new version completely changes the process of connecting to the Tor network. After a connection to the local network appears, the Tor connection wizard now starts, which allows you to choose between an automatic connection mode and an enhanced privacy mode, which allows you to hide the fact of working through Tor from traffic analyzers on the local network. The Connection Wizard allows you to connect from censored networks through bridged gateways to bypass blocking without changing the default configuration. In the future, it will be possible to save a list of bridge gateways in persistent storage, diagnose the health of a wireless network, determine connectivity using a captive portal, and retrieve data about new bridge gateways.
