UbuntuDDE 22.04 distribution release with Deepin desktop

The release of the UbuntuDDE 22.04 (Remix) distribution has been published, based on the Ubuntu 22.04 codebase and shipped with the DDE (Deepin Desktop Environment) graphical environment. The project is an unofficial edition of Ubuntu, but the developers are trying to get UbuntuDDE included in the official editions of Ubuntu. The size of the iso image is 3 GB.

UbuntuDDE offers the latest release of the Deepin desktop and a set of specialized applications developed by the Deepin Linux project, including the Deepin File Manager, DMusic music player, DMovie video player, and DTalk messaging system. Of the differences from Deepin Linux, there is a redesign and the delivery of the Ubuntu Software Center application instead of the Deepin application catalog with support for Snap and DEB packages. The window manager used is Kwin, developed by the KDE project.

Of the changes in the new version, there is a transition to the Ubuntu 22.04 package base with the Linux 5.15 kernel, updating the Deepin Desktop Environment and related packages, updating LibreOffice 7.3.6.2, including the DDE Store and DDE Grand Search applications (activated by "Shift + space"), a new style for the Calamares installer.

Recall that Deepin desktop components are developed using C/C++ (Qt5) and Go languages. A key feature is the panel, which supports multiple modes of operation. In the classic mode, a more explicit separation of open windows and applications proposed for launching is carried out, the area of \uXNUMXb\uXNUMXbthe system tray is displayed. Efficient mode is somewhat reminiscent of Unity, mixing indicators of running programs, favorite applications and control applets (volume / brightness settings, connected drives, clock, network status, etc.). The program launcher interface is displayed in full screen and provides two modes - viewing favorite applications and navigating through the catalog of installed programs.
