A new branch of the dual-panel file manager, Double Commander 1.2, is now available. It builds on the Total Commander analog and ensures compatibility with its plugins. The 1.2 branch is currently rated as a beta version (in the 1.1.x branch, the beta flag was replaced with "gamma" in release 1.1.12, seven months after 1.1.0). Three user interface options are available: GTK2, Qt5, and Qt6. The code is written in Pascal and distributed under the GPLv2 license. Builds are available for Linux (AppImage, rpm, deb), FreeBSD, Windows и macOS.
Features of Double Commander include the ability to perform all operations in the background, support for renaming a group of files using a mask, a tab-based interface, a two-pane mode with vertical or horizontal panel placement, a built-in text editor with syntax highlighting, working with archives as virtual directories, advanced search tools, a customizable panel, support for all Total Commander plugin formats, and compatibility with platform plugins.
