The release of the Finnix 124 Live distribution is available, which is dedicated to the 22nd anniversary of the project. The distribution is based on the Debian package base and supports only console work, but contains a good selection of utilities for the needs of the administrator. The composition includes 584 packages with all kinds of utilities. The size of the iso image is 455 MB.
In the new version:
- The wifi-connect utility, when launched without command line parameters, displays the detected access points.
- Added support for passing the full netmask to the "ip=" kernel parameter.
- Added a Python variant of the strings utility that eliminates the need to install the binutils package.
- Added unofficial build for RISC-V architecture (riscv64) in addition to builds for amd64, i386, arm64, armhf, ppc64el and s390x architectures.
- The systemd service finnix.target has been replaced with multi-user.target.
- Added new packages: inxi, rmlint, nwipe, rename, gdu, pwgen, sntp, lz4, lzip, lzop, zstd.
- Removed pppoeconf and crda packages, which are deprecated in Debian.
- The package base is in sync with the Debian 11 repositories.
