This project is designed to automatically update firmware in Linux. By default, fwupd downloads firmware from Linux Vendor Firmware Service(LVFS). This service is designed for OEMs and firmware developers who want to make their firmware available to Linux users.
Some new features added in this release:
- commands for interacting with ESP in fwupdtool
- plugin for fingerprint sensors Goodix
- plugin for updating network adapters BCM5719
- plugin for updating Elan Touchpads using USB HID
- ChromeOS Quiche and Gingerbread support
- ability to block certain firmware versions using a checksum
- ability to create firmware from multiple images
- support for downloading DMI data from DT systems
