Release of GNU Autoconf 2.70

A week ago, eight years after the last release, GNU Autoconf 2.70, a utility for creating configuration scripts used to build and install programs, was quietly released.

Notable changes include:

  • support for the 2011 C/C++ standard,
  • support for reproducible builds,
  • improved compatibility with current compilers and shell utilities,
  • improved cross-compilation support,
  • a large number of bug fixes and minor improvements,
  • 12 new features.
