A release of the fheroes2 0.9.6 project is available, attempting to recreate the Heroes of Might and Magic II game. The project code is written in C++ and distributed under the GPLv2 license. To run the game, game resource files are required, which can be obtained, for example, from the demo version of Heroes of Might and Magic II.
Major changes:
- Full support for Russian, Polish and French localizations.
- Automatic detection and the ability to select the language in the settings that the current version of the game supports.
- A new settings window allows you to select a resolution, change the language, or enable experimental modding options.
- The position of a "wide" creature in combat when attacking is now shown on the field grid.
- Fheroes2 now works on Nintendo Switch.
- Over 60 bugs fixed.
