Weston Composite Server 9.0 Release

Available stable release of composite server weston 9.0, which develops technologies that contribute to the emergence of full-fledged protocol support Wayland in Enlightenment, GNOME, KDE and other user environments. Weston's goal is to provide a high quality code base and working examples for using Wayland in desktop environments and embedded solutions such as platforms for car infotainment systems, smartphones, TVs and other consumer devices.
A new release of the protocol, IPC, and Wayland libraries is expected at a later date.

The major version number change for Weston is due to ABI changes that break compatibility. Changes in new branch Weston:

  • The kiosk-shell shell has been implemented, which allows you to run separate applications in full screen mode separately. The new shell can be useful for creating Internet kiosks, display stands, electronic signage and self-service terminals.
  • Improved testing infrastructure. Added support for DRM (Direct Rendering Manager) texts. The continuous integration system includes DRM and OpenGL tests.
  • Added support for DRM/KMS property to detect LCD panel orientation (panel_orientation_property).
