The goal of the project is to create a distribution kit that is simple and transparent for users, based on BSD-like initialization scripts, having the most simplified structure and containing a relatively small number of ready-made binary packages. CRUX supports a system of ports that makes it easy to install and upgrade FreeBSD/Gentoo style applications. Size iso image, prepared for the x86-64 architecture, is 644 MB.

In the new release, the Linux-PAM package is included in the main package and the use of the PAM (Pluggable Authentication Modules) mechanism is provided for organizing authentication in the system. Using PAM allows users to implement features such as two-factor login authentication. Transferred various components from autotools to new assembly systems. Moved D-Bus settings from /usr/etc to /etc directory (config files may need to be changed). Updated versions of system components, including the Linux kernel
