Issue Linux-CRUX 3.8 distribution

After two and a half years of development, the independent lightweight release has been completed Linux- the CRUX 3.7 distribution, developed since 2001 in accordance with the KISS (Keep It Simple, Stupid) philosophy and aimed at experienced users. The project's goal is to create a simple and user-friendly distribution based on BSD-like initialization scripts, with a minimalist structure and a relatively small number of ready-to-use binary packages. CRUX supports a ports system, allowing for the installation and updating of FreeBSD/Gentoo-style applications. The ISO image, prepared for the x86-64 architecture, is 1.7 GB in size.

The new release includes updated versions of system components, including the kernel. Linux 6.12, glibc 2.40, gcc 14.2.0, binutils 2.43.1, sysvinit 3.14. New packages include nvme-cli, rdfind, libbsd, libcap-ng, and libxcrypt. The X-server-based environment (xorg-server 21.1.16, Mesa 25.0) remains installed by default, but the Wayland protocol can now be used as an option. The ISO image is built in a hybrid format, suitable for booting from DVD and USB drives. UEFI support is provided during installation.
