Grml Live distribution release 2020.06

After a year and a half of development published release of the live distribution grml 2020.06, based on the Debian GNU/Linux package base. The distribution kit contains a selection of programs for performing text data processing operations using the texttools package and for performing work that arises in the practice of system administrators (data recovery after a failure, analysis of incidents, etc.). The graphical environment is built using a window manager flux box. Full iso image size 750 MB, abbreviated - 350 MB.

Grml Live distribution release 2020.06

In the new release:

  • The packages have been synced with the Debian Testing repository as of June 24th.
  • Live system mount point changed from /lib/live/mount/medium to /run/live/medium.
  • All utilities of the distribution, including grml2usb, grml-paste and grml-x, are freed from binding to Python2 and ported to Python3.
  • Instead of a custom build of the Linux kernel, the standard linux-image package from Debian has been delivered (release 5.6 is involved).
  • Added support for Cloud-init (passing network settings and configuring SSH when booting in cloud systems with the β€œservices=cloud-init” option).
  • Added support for qemu-guest-agent to manage when running Grml in guests.
  • Added display of current network connection parameters (cloud-init, hostname, IP, zeroconf/avahi) to grml-quickconfig.
  • Includes 30 new packs, including
    avahi-utils, bind9-dnsutils, borgbackup, fuse3, iperf3, qemu-system-gui, tmate, vim-gtk3, wireguard and zstd.
