Grml Live distribution release 2022.11

After more than a year of development, the grml 2022.11 live distribution based on the Debian GNU/Linux package base has been released. The distribution kit contains a selection of programs for performing text data processing operations using the texttools package and for performing work that arises in the practice of system administrators (data recovery after a failure, analysis of incidents, etc.). The graphical environment is built using the Fluxbox window manager. The size of the full iso image is 855 MB, the abbreviated one is 492 MB.

In the new release:

  • The packages have been synced with the Debian Testing repository as of November 11th.
  • The live system has been moved to the /usr shared partition (the /bin, /sbin and /lib* directories are symlinked to the corresponding directories inside /usr).
  • Updated package versions, including Linux kernel 6.0, Perl 5.36, Python 3.10, Ruby 3.0.
  • Added 18 new packages, replaced or removed 26 packages. New packages include: polkitd, sqlite3, dbus-daemon, exfatprogs, f2fs-tools, hping3, inetutils-telnet, jo, mbuffer, myrescue, nftables, ntpsec, pkexec, stenc, usrmerge, util-linux-extra. Removed packages include: mercurial, subversion, tshark, wireshark-qt.
  • The Live build integrates Memtest86+ 6 with UEFI support.
  • Added support for ZFS.
  • The default setting of dbus is provided.
