Sailfish 3.2.1 mobile OS release

Jolla Company ΠΎΠΏΡƒΠ±Π»ΠΈΠΊΠΎΠ²Π°Π»Π° release of the operating system Sailfish 3.2.1. The builds have been prepared for Jolla 1, Jolla C, Sony Xperia X, Xperia XA2, Gemini, Sony Xperia 10 devices, and are already available as an OTA update. Sailfish uses a graphics stack based on Wayland and Qt5 libraries, the system environment is built on the basis of Mer, which since April develops as part of Sailfish, and packages from the Nemo Mer distribution. The user interface, basic mobile apps, Silica's QML GUI building components, Android app launcher, smart text input engine, and data synchronization system are proprietary, but their code was planned to be open sourced back in 2017.

    • Provided support for enabling developer mode when there is no Internet connection and no account in Jolla;
    • Added control of VPN settings via Connman and the ability to block the browser to remote management tools for a mobile device (MDM, Device Management);
    • Support for the CSV format has been added in the document viewer, support for XLSX and RTF has been improved, problems with the Cyrillic representation of data in RTF have been resolved;
    • The multimedia player provides dynamic detection of hardware codecs;
    • In the messenger, the interface for viewing messages has been redesigned and the interface for displaying detailed information has been improved;
    • Support for SmartPoster NFC tags has been implemented;
    • The interface style for making calls has been redesigned;

    • Improved support for L2TP VPN, PPTP VPN, OpenConnect and OpenVPN;
    • Vulnerabilities CVE-2016-3189, CVE-2019-12900, CVE-2019-9169, CVE-2014-2524, CVE-2018-20843 and CVE-2019-15903 have been fixed.
  • Continued modernization of interface design for messaging;

  • The Android compatibility layer has been updated to the Android 8.1 platform. Fixed issues with WhatsApp and YouTube apps;
  • Improved synchronization of the scheduler calendar with Google Calendar;
  • Issues with using SSH over USB in developer mode have been resolved. For SSH connections, key authentication is enabled instead of the root user;
  • In the document viewer, automatic detection of the encoding in text files has appeared;
  • In the mail client, the design of the field with the sender's parameters has been changed;
  • Sony Xperia devices now support HEVC/h265 hardware video decoding;
  • For the Xperia 10 device, the ability to encrypt the user data partition has been implemented;
  • Settings added a section with encryption parameters ("Settings > Encryption").
