Submitted by release of a lightweight music player Audacious 4.0, which at one time branched off from the Beep Media Player (BMP) project, which is a fork of the classic XMMS player. The release comes with two user interfaces: GTK+ based and Qt based. Assemblies prepared by for various Linux distributions and for Windows.
Key innovations in Audacious 4.0:
The default has been switched to a Qt 5 based interface. The GTK2 based interface is no longer being developed, but is left as an option that can be enabled at build time. In general, both options are similar in the organization of work, but the Qt interface implements some additional features, such as a playlist viewing mode that is easier to navigate and sort. The Qt-based Winamp-like interface does not have all the functionality ready yet, so users of this interface may want to continue using the GTK2-based interface.
Added support for sorting the playlist when clicking on the column headers;
Added the ability to rearrange playlist columns by dragging them with the mouse;
Added application-wide volume and step size settings;
Implemented an option to hide playlist tabs;
Added playlist sorting mode showing directories after files;
Implemented additional MPRIS calls for compatibility in KDE 5.16+;
