Tauon Music Box 6.0 Released

Available music player release Tauon Music Box 6.0, which combines a fast and minimalistic interface with rich functionality. The project is written in Python and spreads licensed under GPLv3. Finished builds prepared for Arch Linux and in formats Snap ΠΈ Flatpak.

Among the declared functionality:

  • Import tracks and create playlists in drag&drop mode;
  • Display and download covers, related images, lyrics and guitar chords;
  • Playback mode without pauses (gapless);
  • Support for CUE files and FLAC, APE, TTA, WV, MP3, M4A (aac, alac), OGG, OPUS and XSPF formats.
  • Possibility of transcoding catalogs with music in batch mode;
  • Getting information about tracks from the Last.fm service. The ability to view tracks that are popular with users on the friends list;
  • Tag editing via MusicBrainz Picard (when installed);
  • Building a list of favorite tracks and visualization of listening statistics. Built-in chart generator.
  • The ability to search for musicians in the Rate Your Music rating and tracks in Genius;
  • MPRIS2 protocol support for Linux desktop integration;
  • Support for Internet radio broadcasting;
  • Import streaming from servers compatible with PLEX, koel or Subsonic API;
  • Import and manage tracks in Spotify;
  • Extract music from archives and import new music with one click;
  • Ability to change the interface layout (minimalistic, compact, gallery and large covers).

Tauon Music Box 6.0 Released

The new release adds support for searching for musicians in the Bandcamp service, implements the functions of transcoding and synchronization with external media, adds playback controls in Spotify, and offers a new interface for changing the theme.
