NetBSD 8.1 release

Published operating system release NetBSD 8.1. In accordance with new process pre-release, NetBSD 8.1 is categorized as a corrective update and includes mostly fixes for issues identified since publication NetBSD 8.0. The release of NetBSD 9 will be significant. Download prepared by 736 MB install images available in builds for 58 system architectures and 16 different CPU families.

All changes:

  • Added new option smtoff to rc.conf to disable SMT/Hyper-Threading;
  • Improved DRM/KMS drivers;
  • Driver added bwfm for Broadcom FullMAC wireless adapters with PCI and USB interfaces;
  • Driver added mfii for LSI Logic MegaRAID SAS Fusion RAID controllers;
  • Updated httpd and dhcpcd (7.2.2).
  • Changes made to blocking attacks MDS class (Microarchitectural Data Sampling) in Intel processors;
  • Fixed data leaks from the kernel;
  • Fixed and improved network device drivers;
  • Issues with TLS (Thread Local Storage) in executable files in PIE mode are resolved;
  • Improved support repeatable builds;
  • Fixed regression performance issues in tmpfs.
