Release of Nicotine+ 3.2.1, Soulseek Peer-to-Peer Graphical Client

Nicotine+ 3.2.1, a free graphical client for the Soulseek P2P file-sharing network, has been released. Nicotine+ aims to be a user-friendly, free and open source alternative to the official Soulseek client, providing additional functionality while maintaining compatibility with the Soulseek protocol. The client code is written in Python using the GTK graphics library and distributed under the GPLv3 license. Builds are available for GNU/Linux, BSD, Solaris, Windows, and masOS.

Major changes:

  • Added direct browsing of directories and files using the "slsk://" protocol.
  • Optimized the overall performance and stability of interactions with the Soulseek server and peer-to-peer connections.
  • Optimized GUI performance.
  • A lot of work has been done by the community to translate the program into different languages.
  • Fixed a critical vulnerability when receiving a download request with an incorrectly specified file path.
  • Fixed processing of temporary files whose names exceed 255 characters.
  • Fixed a bug due to which the distributions were permanently stuck in the distribution queue.
  • Fixed an issue where language translations were not applied automatically on Windows and macOS.
