The release of the OnlyOffice Desktop 6.4 suite is available, designed to work with text documents, spreadsheets and presentations. Editors are designed as desktop applications that are written in JavaScript using web technologies, but combine client and server components in one set, designed for self-sufficient use on the user's local system, without resorting to an external service. The project code is distributed under the free license AGPLv3.
OnlyOffice claims full compatibility with MS Office and OpenDocument formats. Supported formats include: DOC, DOCX, ODT, RTF, TXT, PDF, HTML, EPUB, XPS, DjVu, XLS, XLSX, ODS, CSV, PPT, PPTX, ODP. It is possible to extend the functionality of the editors through plugins, for example, plugins are available for creating templates and adding YouTube videos. Ready-made builds are generated for Windows, macOS and Linux (deb and rpm packages, packages in Snap, Flatpak and AppImage formats will also be generated in the near future).
OnlyOffice Desktop includes the recently published ONLYOFFICE Docs 6.4 online editors and offers the following additional innovations:
- Added support for batch operations with comments. For example, you can now delete or mark as completed all viewed comments at once. In the commenting mode, tools are implemented for setting user access rights.
- An option has been added in the document editor to automatically use upper case for the first letter in a sentence. Added a new review mode - Simple markup. Provided support for quick conversion from text to table and from table to text.
- The spreadsheet processor implements the ability to add, delete, and edit conditional formatting rules (rules for linking cell style to content).
Added support for sparklines - mini-charts that display the dynamics of changes in a series of values ββintended for insertion into a cell.
Added support for import from files in txt and csv formats.
Added auto-correction for links, which automatically replaces text links and local paths with hyperlinks.
The spreadsheet also provides the ability to run a macro by clicking on a graphic object, added support for freezing from changing panel parameters, an option to configure the display of zeros in cells, and added support for comment chains.
- The presentation editor now has a visual history of presentation changes, as well as support for hiding the notes panel.
- Significantly improved support for chart styles. Added chart styles for visually impaired people (for example, a special style for color blind people has appeared).
- Added support for the WOPI (Web Application Open Platform Interface) protocol used to access files on Microsoft, Google and Nextcloud servers.
- The ability to change the rendering of symbols of list items has been provided.
- Control elements now have support for switching between elements using the Tab key and the Shift + Tab combination.
- For screens with a high pixel density, the ability to increase the scale of the interface to levels of 125% and 175% (in addition to the previously available 100%, 150% and 200%) is implemented.
- The configuration file provides the ability to set a theme and enable co-editing.
- The mobile editors have been completely rewritten using the React framework.
- Delivery of the native version of OnlyOffice Desktop for Apple devices with an M1 ARM chip that does not use the Rosetta 2 emulator has begun.
