Oracle has published the Solaris 11.4 SRU 42 (Support Repository Update) operating system update, which offers a series of regular fixes and improvements for the Solaris 11.4 branch. To install the fixes proposed in the update, just run the 'pkg update' command.
In the new release:
- Added packages with a new branch of the OpenSSL 3.0 library. In a future release, OpenSSL 3.0 will be enabled by default and offered for migration from OpenSSL 1.0.2 and 1.1.1.
- Added packages with Ansible 2.10 configuration management system.
- Implemented new commands "ldm console -e" to specify an escape character and "ldm unbind -a" to perform the operation for all domains.
- Added support for live migration of guests in logical virtual environments (LDoms) between servers based on SPARC M7, T7, S7, M8 and T8 processors (cross-CPU migration).
- Added the ability to switch to debugging child processes spawned using the fork and spawn system calls without stopping debugging the parent process.
- The functions freezero and freezeroall have been added to the standard C library libc, which zero out the contents of the freed memory.
- Stopped setting the executable bit on object files and shared libraries.
- Support for additional dimensions (g - gigabyte, t - terabyte) and non-integer values ββ('.5t') has been added to the "split -b" command.
- The packages include Zipp, typing-extensions (for Python), importlib-metadata, Sphinx, Alabaster, and Docutils.
- Corereadm uses the /var/cores/ directory to store core files.
- Added support for C.UTF-8 locale.
- Added "zfs get -I state" and "zpool status/import -s" commands.
- Added "-h" and "--scale" options to plimit, pmadvise and pmap commands.
- Support for KMIP 1.4 (Key Management Interoperability Protocol) has been added to the libkmip library.
- Vulnerability fixes updated: Apache httpd 2.4.52, Java 7u331/8u321, ModSecurity 2.9.5, MySQL 5.7.36, NSS 3.70, Samba 4.13.14, Django 2.2.25/3.2.10, fetchmail 6.4.22, libexif 0.6.24, ncurses 6.3, webkitgtk 2.34.1, g11n/im-ibus, kernel/streams, library/gd2, library/polkit, utility/imagemagick, utility/junit, utility/mailman, utility/php, utility/pip , utility/vim and x11/xorg-server.
- Updated many packages, including GNOME 41, HPLIP 3.21.8, gtk 3.24.30, meson 0.59.2, mutt 2.1.3, nano 5.9.
