DNF 4.15 Package Manager Release

The DNF 4.15 release of the package manager is available and is used by default in Fedora Linux and RHEL distributions. DNF is a fork of Yum 3.4 adapted to work with Python 3 and uses the hawkey library as a backend for dependency resolution. Compared to Yum, DNF has noticeably faster performance, lower memory consumption, and better dependency management.

In the new version:

  • In dnf-automatic (a utility that allows you to perform "dnf upgrade" actions in automatic mode, for example, when called from cron), added the "reboot" parameter to determine the behavior when a reboot is necessary (can be never, when-changed and when-needed) .
  • Added support for canceling the rollback operation for bulk updates.
  • The ability to pass the CLI interface option when loading an external configuration file (for example, to set the sslverify, username and password parameters when accessing your own repository) is provided.
