Release of RawTherapee 5.6 and digiKam 6.1 photo processing software

Took place program release Raw Therapee 5.6, which provides tools for editing photos and converting images in RAW format. The program supports a large number of RAW file formats, including cameras with Foveon- and X-Trans sensors, and can also work with the Adobe DNG standard and with JPEG, PNG and TIFF formats (up to 32 bits per channel). The project code is written in C++ using GTK+ and spreads licensed under GPLv3.

RawTherapee provides a set of tools for color correction, white balance, brightness and contrast, as well as automatic image enhancement and noise removal. Several algorithms have been implemented for image quality normalization, lighting correction, noise suppression, detail enhancement, extra shadow control, edge and perspective blockage correction, automatic removal of dead pixels and exposure change, sharpening, removal of scratches and dust marks.

Additionally, it can be noted Release photo collection management software digikam 6.1.0. New release introduces new interface for plugin development DPlugins, which replaced the previously supported KIPI interface and provides more opportunities to expand the functionality of various parts of digiKam, without being tied to the digiKam Core API. The new interface is not limited to Main Album View and can be used to expand the functionality of Showfoto, Image Editor and Light Table modes, as well as better integration with all major digiKam tools. In addition to functions such as import/export and metadata editing, the DPlugins API can be used to extend the functions of palette editing, transformation, decoration, applying effects, and creating handlers for batch work.

Currently, 35 general plugins and 43 image editing plugins, 38 plugins for Batch Queue Manager have already been prepared based on the DPlugins API. General plugins and plugins for the image editor can be enabled and disabled on the fly while working with the application (dynamic plugin loading is not yet available for Batch Queue Manager). In the future, it is planned to adapt DPlugins to other parts of digiKam, such as image loading handlers, camera operations, database components, face recognition code, etc.
