The release of the photo collection management program digiKam 7.2.0, developed by the KDE project, has been published. The program provides a comprehensive set of tools for importing, managing, editing and publishing photos, as well as images from digital cameras in raw format. The code is written in C++ using Qt and KDE libraries, and distributed under the GPLv2 license. Installation packages are prepared for Linux (AppImage, FlatPak), Windows and macOS.
Improvements added include:

- Work has been done to improve the stability and usability of the tool for renaming a group of files in batch mode.
- Added the ability to store location information in metadata and improved support for GPX files.
- The internal engine for processing RAW images has been updated to version 0.21.0 of libraw. Added support for CR3, RAF and DNG formats. Added support for new camera models including iPhone 12 Max/Max Pro, Canon EOS R5, EOS R6, EOS 850D, EOS-1D X Mark III, FujiFilm X-S10, Nikon Z 5, Z 6 II, Z 7 II, Olympus E -M10 Mark IV, Sony ILCE-7C (A7C) and ILCE-7SM3 (A7S III).
