After a year of development, the free vector graphics editor Inkscape 1.1 was released. The editor provides flexible drawing tools and provides support for reading and saving images in SVG, OpenDocument Drawing, DXF, WMF, EMF, sk1, PDF, EPS, PostScript, and PNG formats. Ready builds of Inkscape have been prepared for Linux (AppImage, Snap, PPA, Flatpak to be published), macOS and Windows.
Key innovations:
- A welcome screen for launching the application has been added, offering basic settings such as document size, canvas color, theme, hotkey set and color mode, as well as a list of recently opened files and templates for creating new documents.
- The Dialog Docking System has been rewritten, which now allows you to place toolbars not only on the right, but also on the left side of the workspace, as well as arrange several panels in one block with switching using tabs and detach floating panels. The layout and size of panels are now saved between sessions.
- Implemented a dialog for entering commands (Command Palette), pop-up when you click "?" and allows you to find and call various functions without accessing the menu and without pressing hot keys. Using the command palette, you can perform actions related to editing, rotating, resetting changes, importing data and opening files, taking into account the history of working with documents.

- An Outline Overlay view mode has been implemented, in which the outlines and the picture are shown at the same time.
- In the Calligraphy tool, the ability to specify width units with an accuracy of up to three decimal places (for example, 0.005) has been added. The old scaling factor behavior can be used when specifying values ββwith the "%" symbol.
- In the Connector tool, real-time updates of connector lines are provided when objects are moved.
- The Node tool provides the ability to copy, cut, and paste individual selected path nodes, which can then be embedded into an existing path or pasted as a new path.
- Added a "Scale" option to the Pen and Pencil tools to accurately numeric the width of a shape created with the "Shape" option.
- A new selection mode has been added that allows you to select all objects whose boundary is not only inside, but also intersects with the specified selection area.
- A new LPE effect (Live Path Effect) Slice has been added, which allows you to split an object into two or more parts without destroying the original representation. For each part, you can change the style, since in fact each part is treated as a separate object.
- Pasting objects from the clipboard to the canvas is now by default over the currently selected object.
- Added a custom set of mouse cursors based on the use of the SVG format and adapted for HiDPI screens.
- In the dialog for exporting to PNG format, the need for an additional click on the 'Export' button has been removed (just click 'Save'). When exporting, it is possible to save to bitmap formats JPG, TIFF, PNG (optimized) and WebP directly by choosing the appropriate file extension when saving.
- When importing SVG files from CorelDraw, support for layers has been implemented.
- Added experimental support for the Add-ons Manager, with which you can install additional extensions and update existing ones.
