pkgsrc 2021Q1 package repository release

The developers of the NetBSD project presented the release of the package repository pkgsrc-2021Q1, which became the 70th release of the project. The pkgsrc system was created 23 years ago based on ports of FreeBSD and is currently used by default to manage a collection of additional applications on NetBSD and Minix, and is also used by Solaris/illumos and macOS users as an additional package distribution tool. In general, Pkgsrc supports 23 platforms, including AIX, FreeBSD, OpenBSD, DragonFlyBSD, HP-UX, Haiku, IRIX, Linux, QNX and UnixWare.

The repository offers more than 26 thousand packages. Compared to the previous release, 381 new packages were added, 61 packages were removed, and versions of 2064 packages were updated, including 29 related to the R language, 499 related to Python, and 332 related to Ruby. The default Go compiler has been updated to version 1.16. Support for the php 7.2, node.js 8 and go 1.14 branches has been discontinued.
