Apache OpenMeetings 6.1 web conferencing server release

The Apache Software Foundation has released Apache OpenMeetings 6.1, a web conferencing server that enables audio and video conferencing over the Web, as well as collaboration and messaging between participants. Both webinars with one speaker and conferences with an arbitrary number of participants simultaneously interacting with each other are supported. The project code is written in Java and distributed under the Apache 2.0 license.

Among the additional features: tools for integrating with a calendar-scheduler, sending individual or broadcast notifications and invitations, sharing files and documents, maintaining an address book of participants, keeping a record of an event, joint scheduling of tasks, broadcasting the output of launched applications (demonstration of screencasts), conducting polls and surveys.

One server can serve an arbitrary number of conferences held in separate virtual conference rooms and including its own set of participants. The server supports flexible permissions management tools and a powerful conference moderation system. Management and interaction of participants is carried out through a web-interface. The OpenMeetings code is written in Java. MySQL and PostgreSQL can be used as a DBMS.
