Memtest86+ 6.20 Memory Test System Release

The release of Memtest86+ 6.20 RAM testing program is available. The program is not tied to operating systems and can be run directly from the BIOS / UEFI firmware or from the bootloader to conduct a full test of RAM. If problems are found, the map of bad memory areas built in Memtest86+ can be used in the Linux kernel to exclude problem areas using the memmap option. The project code is distributed under the GPLv2 license.

Changes in the new version are mainly aimed at adding support for some older systems and solving problems when working on new embedded and mobile platforms. Main innovations:

  • Added support for Intel CPUs based on Alder Lake-N microarchitecture.
  • Added support for VIA VT8233(A) and VT8237 chipsets.
  • Added support for NVIDIA nForce 3 motherboard.
  • Added support for ALi M1533, 1543(C) and 1535 chipsets.
  • Provided output of temperature information for AMD K8 CPU.
  • Added support for some manufacturers JEDEC (Joint Electron Device Engineering Council).
  • Improved handling of SPD (Serial Presence Detect) read operations on mobile CPUs.
  • Fixed issues with the APIC timer on some mobile platforms.
  • Improved detection of older P5 and P6 class CPUs (Pentium, Pentium Pro, Pentium II, Pentium III).
