Release of the free sound editor Ardour 8.2

The release of the free sound editor Ardor 8.2 has been published, designed for multi-channel recording, processing and mixing of sound. Ardor provides a multi-track timeline, an unlimited level of rollback of changes throughout the entire process of working with a file (even after closing the program), and support for a variety of hardware interfaces. The program is positioned as a free analogue of professional tools ProTools, Nuendo, Pyramix and Sequoia. The code is distributed under the GPLv2 license. In the near future, ready-made assemblies for Linux will be generated in Flatpak format.

Key improvements:

  • When editing MIDI, a Note tupling function is provided, which allows you to select one or more notes, press “s” and split each note into two equal parts (subsequent presses of “s” will lead to division into 3, 4, 5, etc. ). You can press “Shift+s” to cancel a split, or “j” to merge.
  • A “No-strobe” option has been added to the settings to disable all interface elements that cause blinking and flickering (bright blinking can trigger an attack in patients with epilepsy).
  • Added support for Solid State Logic UF8 DAW mixing controllers for digital audio workstation (DAW) control.
