The release of Supertuxkart 1.3, a free racing game with a lot of karts, tracks and features, has been published. The game code is distributed under the GPLv3 license. Binary builds are available for Linux, Android, Windows, and macOS.
In the new release:
- Added port for Nintendo Switch game consoles with Homebrew installed.
- Added the ability to use vibration feedback for controllers that support this functionality.
- Added new arenas that support the Capture-The-Flag mode: Ancient Colosseum Labyrinth (a dark track with labyrinths and an atmosphere in the style of a Roman colosseum) and Alien Signal (recreates the infrastructure of one of the projects to search for extraterrestrial civilizations).
- Work has been carried out to modernize existing karts. The Sara the Racer card has been replaced with the Pepper witch card from the Pepper&Carrot comics. Redesigned Gnu, Sara the Wizard, Adiumy and Emule maps.
- Redesigned Las Dunas Soccer Stadium track.
- At Hacienda, Old Mine, Ravenbridge Mansion and Shifting Sands, the margins have been increased in order to continue counting in the event of a small exit from the road.
- The "Render resolution" mode has been added to the graphics settings, which allows you to increase performance by reducing the actual resolution of the displayed image.
- The menu offers a new screen with a table of records.
- The transition to the use of the Blender 3 2.8D modeling package for creating tracks, karts and arenas has been made. STK scripts ported from version 2.7.
- The user interface provides the ability to click on URLs in the text.
