Release of the text editor OpenVi 7.0.12

The OpenVi 7.0.12 text editor is now available, which is a portable version of the Vi editor developed by the OpenBSD project, which continues the development of the nvi editor shipped with the 4BSD operating system. The OpenVi 7.0.x branch is in sync with the OpenBSD 7.0 codebase. In addition to vi, OpenVi also includes the ex and db utilities.

OpenVi is notable for its very compact implementation, running at about 16 lines of code (vim, by comparison, has over 300 lines of code). The editor is adapted to work in Linux (glibc, musl), FreeBSD, macOS and Windows (WSL, Midipix) and can be used on systems with x86/AMD64, ARM/AArch64, m68k, MIPS, POWER and RISC-V architectures. Clang 6+, GCC 4.6+, IBM XL C/C++ Compiler 16.1+, Intel ICC 19.1+, Intel oneAPI DPC++/C++ Compiler 2021+ and Oracle Developer Studio 12.6+ can be used for building. The code is written in C and distributed under the BSD license.
