Release of the TeX distribution TeX Live 2019

Prepared distribution release TeX Live 2019, created in 1996 on the basis of the teTeX project. TeX Live is the easiest way to deploy a scientific documentation infrastructure, regardless of the operating system used. For loading formed DVD assembly (2,8 GB) of TeX Live 2019, which contains a working Live environment, a complete set of installation files for various operating systems, a copy of the CTAN (Comprehensive TeX Archive Network) repository, a selection of documentation in different languages (including Russian).

Of innovations you can note:

  • In the search library Kpathsea improved handling of parenthesized expansion and file path splitting. Instead of a hard-wired "." added environment variable TEXMFDOTDIR, which allows you to control the coverage of subdirectories when searching;
  • New primitives "\readpapersizespecial" and "\expanded" have been added to epTEX;
  • LuaTEX has been updated to release Lua 5.3. To read PDF files, the own pplib library is involved, which made it possible to exclude the poppler library from dependencies;
  • The r-mpost command has been added to MetaPost, similar to calling it with the "--restricted" option. The minimum precision for decimal and binary modes is set to 2. MPlib removed support for binary mode, which is left in MetaPost;
  • A new primitive "\expanded" has been added to pdfTEX. When setting the "\pdfomitcharset" primitive to 1, the string "/CharSet" is not taken into account in the PDF output, since it cannot be guaranteed to be correct according to the PDF/A-2 and PDF/A-3 specifications;
  • Added primitives "\expanded", "\creationdate", "\elapsedtime", "\filedump", "\filemoddate", "\filesize", "\resettimer", "\normaldeviate", "\uniformdeviate" and " \randomseed";
  • Added the ability to use the curl utility to download data to tlmgr. When selecting programs for loading and compressing archives, preference is now given to system utilities over TEX Live's built-in executables, unless the TEXLIVE_PREFER_OWN environment variable is explicitly set;
  • Added "-gui" option to install-tl to launch new GUI on Tcl/Tk;
  • The package is used as an implementation of the CWEB utility. cwebbin, which provides support for more dialects of the language;
  • Added chkdvifont utility to display font information from files in DVI, tfm/ofm, vf, gf and pk formats;
  • MacTEX adds support for macOS 10.12 and newer releases (Sierra, High Sierra, Mojave). Support for macOS 10.6+ is kept in port 86_64-darwinlegacy;
  • Support for the sparc-solaris platform has been dropped.
