The release of Tails 5.13 (The Amnesic Incognito Live System), a specialized distribution kit based on the Debian package base and designed for anonymous access to the network, has been released. Anonymous exit to Tails is provided by the Tor system. All connections, except traffic through the Tor network, are blocked by default by the packet filter. Encryption is used to store user data in the save user data between runs mode. An iso image has been prepared for download, capable of working in Live mode, with a size of 1.2 GB.
In the new version:
- For new persistent storages and encrypted partitions, the LUKS2 format is used by default, which uses more secure cryptographic algorithms. In June, a special toolkit will be provided to transfer already existing persistent and encrypted partitions based on LUKS2 to LUKS1.
- The curl utility is included for receiving and sending data over the network using various protocols. By default, all requests are made through the Tor network.
- Tor Browser has been updated to version 12.0.6.
The new version of Tor Browser 12.0.6 is synchronized with the Firefox 102.11 ESR codebase, which fixes 17 vulnerabilities. Resolved an issue with high CPU usage after an unexpected termination of the tor process.
