Release of Ultimaker Cura 4.10, a package for preparing a model for 3D printing

A new version of the Ultimaker Cura 4.10 package is available, which provides a graphical interface for preparing models for 3D printing (slicing). Based on the model, the program determines the scenario for the operation of a 3D printer during the sequential application of each layer. In the simplest case, it is enough to import the model in one of the supported formats (STL, OBJ, X3D, 3MF, BMP, GIF, JPG, PNG), select the speed, material and quality settings and send the print job. There are plug-ins for integration with SolidWorks, Siemens NX, Autodesk Inventor and other CAD systems. CuraEngine is used to translate a 3D model into a 3D printer instruction set. The project code is written in Python and distributed under the LGPLv3 license. The GUI is built using the Uranium framework using Qt 5.

In the new release:

  • In the preview mode, the visualization of the material flow (flow) is implemented.
  • At startup, the display of loaded plugins is provided.
  • In the FilamentChange script, a parameter for determining the depth (Z position) has been implemented and the ability to use Marlin M600 configurations has been added.
  • Double-clicking a file in the Digital Factory project open dialog now opens that file in Cura.
  • Added support for Volumic, Anycubic Mega X, Anycubic Mega and eMotionTech Strateo3D 3D printers, as well as new profiles (Ultimaker PETG) and materials.
  • Added support for renaming groups in the list of objects.
  • Resolves a crash on scaling issue that occurs on some Linux distributions.
  • In the simulation mode, it became possible to estimate the volume of material supplied (mmΒ³ / s).
  • A plug-in for direct import from CAD has been prepared. STEP, IGES, DXF/DWG, Autodesk Revit, Autodesk Inventor, SiemensNX, Siemens Parasolid, Solid Edge, Dassault Spatial, Solidworks, 3D ACIS Modeler, Creo and Rhinocerous formats are supported. The plugin is only available for Windows and is available to Ultimaker Professional and Ultimaker subscribers.
