A new version of the Ultimaker Cura 4.11 package is available, which provides a graphical interface for preparing models for 3D printing (slicing). Based on the model, the program determines the scenario for the operation of a 3D printer during the sequential application of each layer. In the simplest case, it is enough to import the model in one of the supported formats (STL, OBJ, X3D, 3MF, BMP, GIF, JPG, PNG), select the speed, material and quality settings and send the print job. There are plug-ins for integration with SolidWorks, Siemens NX, Autodesk Inventor and other CAD systems. CuraEngine is used to translate a 3D model into a 3D printer instruction set. The project code is written in Python and distributed under the LGPLv3 license. The GUI is built using the Uranium framework using Qt.
In the new release:
- A new Monotonic top and bottom surface shaping mode has been added to the settings, allowing you to print with smoother and more even surfaces, for example, to create more aesthetically pleasing demo prototypes or to achieve closer contact with other parts if necessary.
- Updated user interface. More than 100 new icons have been added to make it easier to identify different operations, as well as scaling icons depending on the size of the window. The design of notifications and warnings has been redesigned.
- Improved integration with the Digital Library and simplified collaboration on shared projects. A new library search feature has been added that allows you to search by project name, tags, and description.
- Added the ability to write all third-party material profiles to a USB stick for manually updating material lists in 3D printers.
- Added an option to display notifications when new versions of plugins and beta versions of Ultimaker Cura are released.
- Improved informativeness of the log with information about authentication failures.
- When searching in the visibility settings, the content of settings descriptions is taken into account.
- Added descriptions of new printers and materials. For example, added support for BIQU BX, SecKit SK-Tank, SK-Go, MP Mini Delta 2, Kingroon K3P/K3PS, FLSun Super race, Atom 2.0, Atom Plus PBR 3D Gen-I, Creasee 3D, Voron V0, GooFoo, Renkforce, Farm 2 and Farm2CE.
