Shotcut 22.09 Video Editor Release

The release of the video editor Shotcut 22.09 is available, which is being developed by the author of the MLT project and uses this framework to organize video editing. Support for video and audio formats is implemented through FFmpeg. It is possible to use plugins with the implementation of video and audio effects compatible with Frei0r and LADSPA. Among the features of Shotcut, one can note the possibility of multi-track editing with the composition of video from fragments in various source formats, without the need for their preliminary import or transcoding. There are built-in tools for creating screencasts, processing images from a webcam and receiving streaming video. Qt5 is used to build the interface. The code is written in C++ and distributed under the GPLv3 license.

Among the changes in the new release:

  • A new interface for searching and running commands is proposed, combined with a hotkey editor that allows you to immediately bind a keyboard combination to a command of interest for its quick launch.
  • Improved support for connecting your own transitional effects (Transitions). An option for previewing has been added to the effect properties page.
  • Improved filter selection interface.
  • Added GPS Graphic video filter, which can be used to draw graphs and speedometers.
  • Added Fisheye video filter (fisheye effect), simulating reflection in a mirror sphere.
  • Added partial support for loading animated files in WebP format.
