Shotcut 22.12 Video Editor Release

The release of the video editor Shotcut 22.12 is available, which is developed by the author of the MLT project and uses this framework to organize video editing. Support for video and audio formats is implemented through FFmpeg. It is possible to use plugins with the implementation of video and audio effects compatible with Frei0r and LADSPA. Among the features of Shotcut, one can note the possibility of multi-track editing with the composition of video from fragments in various source formats, without the need to import or re-encode them first. There are built-in tools for creating screencasts, processing images from a webcam and receiving streaming video. Qt5 is used to build the interface. The code is written in C++ and distributed under the GPLv3 license. Pre-built builds are available for Linux (AppImage, flatpak, and snap), macOS, and Windows.

Among the changes in the new release:

  • Added actions to the player menu for moving through the video - "jump forward" (Alt+Page Down) and "jump back" (Alt+Page Up), as well as settings for the time of movement when jumping (Ctrl+J).
  • Added support for colored cycle markers (Ctrl+Alt+M).
  • Added the ability to adjust the sample rate to the Properties > Convert > Advanced dialog.
