VirtualBox 6.1.12 release

Oracle has published a corrective release of the virtualization system VirtualBox 6.1.12, in which it is noted 14 fixes.

Main changes in release 6.1.12:

  • Added experimental graphics output via GLX in Guest Additions;
  • OCI (Oracle Cloud Infrastructure) Integration Components have added a new experimental type of network connections to allow the on-premises VM to act as if it were running in the cloud;
  • Improved guest system resource management in API;
  • Resolved issues with the reverse lookup icon in the log view interface;
  • Improved support for BusLogic controller emulation;
  • In the implementation of the serial port, a regression in data processing in FIFO mode has been eliminated;
  • In VBoxManage, problems with parsing the options of the 'snapshot edit' command have been resolved and a crash has been fixed when passing incorrect input to the 'VBoxManage internalcommands repairhd' command;
  • In 3D components from the Guest Additions, texture object release issues that were causing guest crashes were resolved.
  • Addressed an issue with a host-side omission to write to a file in a shared directory that uses mmap on systems with Linux kernels 4.10.0 to 4.11.x;
  • Fixed an issue with the directory sharing driver that in rare cases resulted in an error on 32-bit Windows systems when flushing write buffers to disk for files mapped to RAM.
  • Enhanced screen resizing capabilities for the VMSVGA virtual graphics adapter;
  • Resolved an issue with ISO image detection with guest additions.
