VirtualBox 6.1.24 release

Oracle has published a corrective release of the VirtualBox 6.1.24 virtualization system, which notes 18 fixes.

Major changes:

  • Added support for the 5.13 kernel for Linux guests and hosts, as well as kernels from the SUSE SLES/SLED 15 SP3 distribution. The Guest Additions have added support for the Linux kernels shipped with Ubuntu.
  • The components installer for Linux-based host systems builds kernel modules, notwithstanding that such modules are already installed and the versions match.
  • Fixed problems in Linux with forwarding USB webcams.
  • Problems with starting a VM if a device attached to VirtIO uses a SCSI port number greater than 30 have been resolved.
  • Improved DVD media change notification.
  • Improved sound support.
  • Resolved issues with resuming network connection in virtio-net after returning from sleep. UDP GSO fragmentation issues have also been resolved.
  • Fixed a memory leak in the r0drv driver.
  • Fixed crash when sharing clipboard in Guest Additions.
  • On Windows-based hosts, problems with verifying digital signatures for DLLs in case of using an incorrect certificate have been resolved.
  • For Solaris guests, the default memory and disk size has been increased.
  • Improved stability in EFI and added support for network boot when emulating the E1000 Ethernet controller.
