VirtualBox 7.0.6 release

Oracle has published a corrective release of the VirtualBox 7.0.6 virtualization system, which notes 14 fixes. At the same time, an update to the previous branch of VirtualBox 6.1.42 was formed with 15 changes, including support for Linux 6.1 and 6.2 kernels, as well as kernels from RHEL 8.7/9.1/9.2, Fedora (5.17.7-300), SLES 15.4 and Oracle Linux 8 .

Major changes in VirtualBox 7.0.6:

  • Additions for Linux-based hosts and guests include support for the kernel from the RHEL 9.1 distribution and initial support for the UEK7 (Unbreakable Enterprise Kernel 7 ) kernel from Oracle Linux 8.
  • The Linux Guest Additions added initial support for building the vboxvideo driver for the Linux 6.2 kernel.
  • Problems with starting the FreeBSD bootloader on systems with older Intel CPUs that do not support "VMX Unrestricted Guest" mode have been resolved in the Virtual Machine Manager.
  • The dialog with settings has been changed in the graphical interface. Fixed issues with grouping virtual machines created or modified from the command line.
  • VirtioNet fixed an issue with the network not working after loading from a saved state.
  • Added support for increasing the size of VMDK image variants: monolithicFlat, monolithicSparse, twoGbMaxExtentSparse and twoGbMaxExtentFlat.
  • In the VBoxManage utility, the "--directory" option has been added to the guestcontrol mktemp command. The "--audio" option has been deprecated, and "--audio-driver" and "--audio-enabled" should be used instead.
  • Improved transfer of mouse state to the guest system.
  • On host systems with Windows, autostart of virtual machines has been set up.
