Wine 6.21 release and Wine staging 6.21

An experimental branch of the open implementation of WinAPI β€” Wine 6.21 β€” has been released. Since the release of version 6.20, 26 bug reports have been closed and 415 changes have been made.

The most important changes:

  • WinSpool, GPhoto and some other modules have been converted to PE (Portable Executable) format.
  • Improved support for inline functions in DbgHelp.
  • The implementation of the OLE DB provider MSDASQL has begun.

Additionally, we can note the formation of the release of the Wine Staging 6.21 project, within which extended Wine builds are formed, including incomplete or risky patches that are not yet suitable for acceptance into the main Wine branch. Compared to Wine, Wine Staging provides 558 additional patches.

The new release is synchronized with the Wine 6.21 codebase. 5 patches related to the implementation of the uiautomationcore DLL, handling mouse movement in winex11.drv, adding critsection.c to ntdll, and a test suite for ntdll have been transferred to the main Wine package. Updated user32-rawinput-mouse patches. A patch has been added that attaches the string ".exe" to the mask when searching in the registry is unsuccessful.
