Wine 7.11 release and Wine staging 7.11

An experimental release of the open implementation of WinAPI - Wine 7.11 has taken place. Since the release of version 7.10, 34 bug reports have been closed and 285 changes have been made.

The most important changes:

  • The Android driver has been converted to use the PE (Portable Executable) executable file format instead of ELF.
  • The winegstreamer library supports direct output mode (without intermediate buffering, zero-copy) of multimedia content using GStreamer.
  • Added character case mapping data for extended Unicode planes (code ranges).
  • Error reports related to the operation of the games are closed: Civilization 4, Mayhem Triple, Euphoria, SpinTires, Mafia, Mafia II, Saints Row The Third Remastered, Cyberpunk 2077, Stranger of Paradise, Doom Eternal, Epic Games Launcher, Ubisoft Connect.
  • Closed error reports related to the operation of applications: Archicad 22, Adobe Lightroom Classic 11.1, Foobar2000, TIP-Integral, EasyMiniGW.

Additionally, we can note the formation of the release of the Wine Staging 7.11 project, within which extended Wine builds are formed, including incomplete or risky patches that are not yet suitable for acceptance into the main Wine branch. Compared to Wine, Wine Staging provides 542 additional patches.

The new release brings synchronization with the Wine 7.11 codebase. Three patches have been transferred to the main part of Wine: In faudio, sending the NOTIFY_CUESTOP notification when stopping playback has been adjusted; In dwmapi, the rateRefresh, rateCompose and qpcRefreshPeriod parameters are filled in in DwmGetCompositionTimingInfo(), and the return of the S_OK state has been added to DwmFlush().
