Wine 7.14 and GE-Proton7-27 release

An experimental release of the open implementation of WinAPI - Wine 7.14 has taken place. Since the release of version 7.13, 19 bug reports have been closed and 260 changes have been made.

The most important changes:

  • Continued transition of the USER32 library to a program interface based on system calls.
  • DirectWrite has improved font handling when a missing font is accessed.
  • Fixed issues with closing sockets.
  • Closed bug reports related to the operation of games: Sid Meier's Civilization IV, Colonization, Warlords, Beyond the Sword, World of Tanks, Roblox, Total War Shogun 2.
  • Closed bug reports related to the operation of applications: Waves Central 12.0.5, Windows 95 Electron, Adobe Digital Editions 2.0.1, Cheat Engine, Sigma Data Center.

Additionally, we can note the release of the GE-Proton7-27 project, within which enthusiasts form extended builds of the package independent of Valve for running Proton Windows applications, which differ in a more recent version of Wine, the use of FFmpeg in FAudio and the inclusion of additional patches that solve problems in various gaming applications. In the new version of Proton GE, the transition to the fresh Wine, dxvk and vkd3d codebase (from Git) was made, patches were added to support the game Halo Infinite, fixes were transferred to solve the breakdown in the games Halo CE, Halo 2, Halo 3, Fall Guys, Witcher 2 , Farcry 3, Battlefield Bad Company 2, Endless Space 2, Gwent: Rogue Mage and SQUAD.
