Published project release XCP-NG 8.0, within which a free and free replacement for the proprietary platform is being developed Xen Server 8.0 to deploy and manage the operation of the cloud infrastructure. XCP-NG recreates Ρ„ΡƒΠ½ΠΊΡ†ΠΈΠΎΠ½Π°Π»ΡŒΠ½ΠΎΡΡ‚ΡŒ, which Citrix has removed from the free edition of Citrix Xen Server since version 7.3. Like XenServer, the XCP-NG project allows you to quickly deploy a server and workstation virtualization system, offering tools for centralized management of an unlimited number of servers and virtual machines. Among the features of the system: the ability to combine multiple servers into a pool (cluster), high availability (High Availability), support for snapshots, sharing shared resources using XenMotion technology. Supports live migration of virtual machines between cluster hosts and between different clusters/individual hosts (without shared storage), as well as live migration of VM disks between storages. The platform can work with a large number of storage systems and is distinguished by the presence of a simple and intuitive interface for installation and administration.

Main innovations:

  • Added packages to the main repository to use the ZFS file system for storage repositories. The implementation is based on the ZFS On Linux 0.8.1 release. To install, just run "yum install zfs";
  • Support for ext4 and xfs for local storage repositories (SR, Storage Repository) is still experimental (requires "yum install sm-additional-drivers" to be installed), although no issues have been reported yet;
  • Implemented support for booting guest systems in UEFI mode;
  • Added a mode for quick deployment of Xen Orchestra directly from the base page of the host environment interface;
  • Install images updated to CentOS 7.5 package base. Linux 4.19 kernel and hypervisor involved xen 4.11;
