Milton 1.9.0 is released - a program for computer painting and drawing

Took place Release Milton 1.9.0, an infinite canvas painting program targeted at computer artists. Milton is written in C++ and Lua and licensed under GPLv3. SDL and OpenGL are used for rendering.

Binary builds for Windows x64 are available. Despite the presence of build scripts for Linux and MacOS, there is no official support for these systems. If you want to collect for yourself, perhaps the old one will help discussion on GitHub. So far, only cases of successful assembly of previous versions are known.

Developers warnMilton is not an image editor or a bitmap graphics editor. This is a program that allows you to create drawings, sketches and paintings. Typically, the use of vector representation involves the transformation of graphical primitives. Milton in work is more like raster counterparts: layers are supported, you can draw with brushes and lines, there is blurring. But due to the use of a vector format, almost infinite detailing of images is possible. The app uses the HSV color scheme, rooted in classic color theories. Milton saves every change and supports an infinite number of undo and redo edits. Export to JPEG and PNG is available. The program is compatible with graphics tablets.

New features in version 1.9.0:

  • soft brushes;
  • dependence of transparency on pressure;
  • rotate (with Alt);
  • brush sizes relative to the canvas.
