Almost 2 years after the previous release 1.16.3, a new version of qTox 1.17, a cross-platform client for the decentralized messenger tox, has been released.
The release already contains 3 versions released in a short period of time: 1.17.0, 1.17.1, 1.17.2. The last two versions do not carry changes for users.
The number of changes in 1.17.0 is very large. From main:
- Added support for persistent chats.
- Added dark themes.
- Added the ability to specify the maximum size for files that will be accepted without confirmation.
- Added options for searching in message history.
- Added AppArmor profiles.
- Added the ability to specify settings for the proxy server on the command line before starting.
- The file transfer event is stored in the message history.
- Magnet links are made active.
- Added date separation in chat and message history.
- Removed kernel support for c-toxcore version < 0.2.0. Required kernel version to build the program >= 0.2.10
- Removed service tox.me.
- Removed "reconnect" button.
- Profile avatar size is limited to 64 KB.
- Lots of bug fixes for group text chats and group audio calls.
- Improved stability: fixed common errors that caused the program to crash.
